The government has completed the construction of a bridge linking Minyughe and Makilawa in Ikungi District, Singida Region, which was broken three years ago, affecting economic activities and access to social services, including health and education.
The completion of the 30 metre long steel bridge (Mabey Bridge) on the Mtamaa-Minyughe to Mtavira road in Ikungi District will open up economic opportunities for the people of the district.Singida Region
The TARURA Singida Regional Manager, Engineer Ibrahim Kibasa, said that the completion of the steel connection for the bridge has enabled the Minyughe River to be opened, providing opportunities for transport activities between the rural areas and the regional headquarters.
Some members of the public who witnessed the completion of the work, including Mrs Elizabeth Bakari of Minyughe Village and the Minyughe Ward Councillor, Hon. Nelson Kiwesi, thanked the government for the project which, when completed, will eliminate the risk of travel, especially for pregnant women.Singida Region
Singida RegionConsultant Engineer Ebenezer Mollel from TARURA Headquarters said the steel bridge is the third to be constructed in the country, preceded by the one at Kihansi in Kilombero and the one at Mbuchi in Kibiti, Coast Region.Singida Region
Engineer Mollel said the bridges are of a unique type, so before they are built, they will have to provide training to TARURA and TANROADS engineers, the aim being to build their capacity to acquire more knowledge and expertise to be able to handle their responsibilities according to the growth of technology.
