The people of Bukoba District in Kagera Region have thanked the Sixth Phase Government through the Ministry of Finance for delivering financial education services that will liberate them economically and prevent them from wasting money.

The thanks have been given by the citizens after the financial education seminar given by the Ministry of Finance through the Finance Sector Development Department held at the Kashura Hall “Women Center” located in Bukoba Municipality in Kagera region.

Speaking at different times after getting that education, Mrs. Ivona Gasper, a businessman, said that the education he received will be used to educate others so that they can have a broad understanding of financial issues.

“We ask the Government to continue to provide financial education to its citizens and ensure that it reaches all people throughout the country because many citizens are losing money due to lack of education,” said Mrs. Gasper.

Community Level Peer Educator Mrs. Jackline Petro, said that after getting financial education, she has known the right place to take care of her money such as banks, various saccos and small registered small groups.

And the Financial Management Officer, Department of Financial Sector Development, Ministry of Finance, Mr. Stanley Kibakaya, said that the Government will ensure that all people who are meant to get education in the first phase are reached as planned.

“We have planned to provide education to all people, service providers and users of financial services so that they have a common understanding and things to be considered when giving loans or taking loans” said Mr. Kibakaya

On his part, Kagera Regional Business Officer and Financial Services Coordinator at the Regional level, Mr. Keneth Mlilo, said that there has been a great response for citizens to come forward to get financial education, especially the group of women because it has been seen that this group is the biggest victim of bad loans with unpaid interest.
