[su_dropcap style=”flat” size=”5″]T[/su_dropcap]he Ministry of Finance and its institutions in mainland Tanzania and the President’s Office of Finance and Zanzibar have continued to strengthen their cooperation through various means, including sports.
Speaking at the Easter Bonanza held at Kilimani Stadium in Dodoma, the Director of Administration and Human Resources at the Ministry of Finance, Mr Lusius Mwenda, said the games were one of the ways of maintaining unity between mainland Tanzania and Zanzibar.
“We are here in Kilimani as sportsmen in the sense of the Office of the Ministry of Finance, Mainland Tanzania and our colleagues in the Office of the President, Ministry of Finance in Zanzibar, every year during Easter we meet as servants and as sportsmen to hold the Easter festival where we are and various sports including football, tug of war, netball also very important in this competition is the cooperation between us in Mainland Tanzania and our colleagues in Zanzibar,” Mr Going said.
Speaking on behalf of the Director, Personnel and Operations Office of the President Finance and Planning in Zanzibar, Mr Suleiman Mohammed Rashid, immediately after the opening of the Bonanza, the Operations Officer, Office of the President Finance and Planning Zanzibar, Mr Rajab Uweje, thanked the Ministry of Finance in Mainland Tanzania for continuing to work with the President’s Office of Finance and Planning in Zanzibar to strengthen relations through the annual Easter Festival.
“We work together in sporting matters like this to strengthen our brotherhood and get to know each other better in terms of work, so it is a good thing that we continue to inherit from our predecessors and it is very beneficial for us. We thank our leaders of these two ministries for continuing to strengthen these relationships and they help us a lot,” said Mr. How are you?
On his part, the Chairman of Easter Bonanza, who is also the Senior Financial Management Officer, Ministry of Finance, Mr. Mgusi Musifa, said that for this year, the organising committee of the festival has made improvements in Bonanza compared to previous years, especially in the football match by keeping various foreign teams apart from the team from the Ministry of Finance, Mainland Tanzania and the President’s Office Finance and Planning Zanzibar.
“If we talk about the history of the past, this time we have improved a bit because we used to play Hazina Bara and Hazina in the islands but today we had six teams,” Mr Musifa added.
This Easter festival has been going on for more than twenty years now, and has brought together both sides of the Union. The participating teams include the Veterans team from the mainland and the islands, Police FC, Hazina Sports Club, GPSA, PSPTB, Area C and others.
