Head of Gender and Children Desk, Mtwara District Assistant Inspector of Police Juliana Chenge accompanied by Inspector Rebeca and Inspector Jepher visited Shangani Primary School and spoke to students and teachers of the school on various issues including reducing absenteeism and providing education on violence and sexual violence to ensure that the children who are the nation of tomorrow fulfil their dreams.
While at the school, they had time to talk and advise the school’s teachers on the best way to reduce absenteeism in the school, including creating a good environment that will enable the children to get food at school, providing motivation for students who are doing well, helping those who are living in difficult circumstances and for those who are persistent truants, trying to give them leadership in the school so that they will love the school and eventually fulfil their dreams.
For her part, Inspector Rebeca Milele also advised that the teachers are the guardians and parents of the children for the entire period that the students are in school, so they must create a procedure to sit and listen to the challenges of the students, because most of them do not speak and continue to suffer psychologically. “Let us help each other to save this generation so that we can create a strong nation of tomorrow,” said Inspector Rebeca Milele.
