Leaders of the UVCCM TZ, the youth wing of Tanzania’s ruling party – CCM (The Revolutionary Party), recently visited Rufiji in the Coast region to offer their support and comfort to the people affected by the devastating floods caused by incessant rains in the country. The delegation, led by President Comrade Mohammed Kawaida, Vice-President Rehema Sombi Omary (MNEC) and Secretary-General Comrade Jokate Urban Mwegelo (MNEC), along with UVCCM officials, arrived in Rufiji with a mandate to provide relief and to inform the local community about the impact of the floods.

The floods, which have historically occurred in 1968, 1972, 1978, 1998, 2020 and 2024, began on 5 March and have affected a staggering 23,670 households. As a result, the government has set up four camps to house the flood victims, while some have sought refuge with relatives and friends. The situation has created an urgent need for humanitarian aid, prompting UVCCM leaders to take action.
