Zanzibar Permanent Register of Voters Update: High Engagement in Unguja
The people of Zanzibar, especially those residing on the island of Unguja in the Western District B and the Central District of the Western Region, have demonstrated a high level of engagement at the centres designated for the improvement of the Permanent Register of Voters currently underway in the islands. This demonstrates the people’s commitment to enhancing their information and registration in the Permanent Register of Voters.
The update of the Permanent Register of Voters in Zanzibar commenced on 7 October and is scheduled for completion on 13 October 2024. Stations will be open from 2:00 am until closing.
The Independent National Electoral Commission has today, 8 October 2024, provided voter education through an advertising vehicle to encourage citizens and voters to register and update their information in Wete District, North Pemba Region.
A number of citizens and voters have appeared in various locations across Pemba Island to register and update their information in the Permanent Register of Voters.
The Zanzibar Registry upgrade is ongoing and will continue until 13 October 2024. Stations open at 2:00 am and close at 12:00 pm.
Registration Update Timeline

Voter Education Initiative
On October 8, 2024, the Independent National Electoral Commission disseminated voter education through an advertising medium with the objective of encouraging citizens and voters in the Wete District, North Pemba Region, to register and update their information.

A number of citizens and voters have presented themselves at various locations across Pemba Island with the intention of registering and updating their information in the Permanent Register of Voters.
Ongoing Registry Upgrade
The Zanzibar Registry upgrade is currently in progress and is scheduled to conclude on 13 October 2024. The stations commence operations at 2:00 am and conclude at 12:00 pm.
