Empowering Entrepreneurs: The Manyara Region's Commitment to Economic Growth

In a notable effort to stimulate economic growth, the Manyara region has earmarked a considerable 1.6 billion shillings to provide support to a diverse range of entrepreneurial groups. The inauguration of the “Strengthen the Economy with Mama Samia” (IMASA) programme occurred today at the CCM Babati Municipal Hall in the Manyara Region. The event, which attracted hundreds of enthusiastic entrepreneurs, served as a testament to the region’s commitment to economic empowerment and innovation.

Her Excellency Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan , the President of Tanzania, has been a staunch proponent of entrepreneurship, encouraging them to fully capitalise on the opportunities presented by this transformative programme. Furthermore, she emphasised that IMASA represents a strategic instrument for enhancing productivity and aligning with her broader initiative to advance the status of women in society. The programme’s objective is to create a ripple effect that enhances economic stability and prosperity for all by empowering women entrepreneurs.

In her keynote address, Mrs. Sophia Mjema, the Advisor to the President of the United Republic of Tanzania on the economic empowerment of women, youth, and special groups, emphasised the significance of the programme. She emphasised that IMASA is not merely an initiative focused on immediate financial assistance; rather, it is a comprehensive approach to bolstering the economic foundations of individuals across a range of sectors. The programme’s holistic design is intended to equip entrepreneurs with the requisite resources, skills and networks to enable them to flourish in an increasingly competitive market.
