The President of Zanzibar and Chairman of the Revolutionary Council, Alhajj Dr Hussein Ali Mwinyi, said that the quality of the Qur’an is important for life in this world and the hereafter.
He emphasised the importance of parents and guardians encouraging children and young people to implement the teachings of the Quran by reading and memorising it.
President Dr Mwinyi said this at the finals of the 20th International Quran Tajweed Competition organised by Khidmatulquran Islamic Institute with the participation of various countries including Mozambique, Indonesia, Turkey, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Egypt, Comoros, Morocco, South Africa, Iran and Tanzania.
In addition, President Dr Mwinyi has asked the teachers who teach the Qur’an through Tajweed to deliver and distribute the Qur’an in the districts of mainland Tanzania and Zanzibar.
Likewise, President Dr Mwinyi has appealed to support the efforts of the Khidmatulquran Institute in managing the morals and behaviour of young people by working with them to achieve the goals they have set for themselves.
The first winner of the competition is Ilyaas Lamhayaoui from Morocco, who received 5000 US dollars, the second winner from Egypt received 2500 US dollars and the third winner from Iran received 1500 US dollars.
