ZANZIBAR’S GOVERNMENT OF NATIONAL UNITY IS FOR ALL ZANZIBAR

The Secretary General of the Chama Cha Mapinduzi (CCM), Ambassador Dr Emmanuel John Nchimbi, has said that the decision of the Government of National Unity of Zanzibar focused on putting the security of people’s lives, interests, stability and good future of Zanzibar, Zanzibarians and Tanzanians in general ahead of political parties.

Ambassador Dr. Nchimbi added that the presence of the government in Zanzibar has removed the state of hate politics and great animosity that existed before the decision to form the government, while stressing that Chama Cha Mapinduzi will continue to fulfil its responsibility to provide leadership to the country in order to maintain the unity and stability intended for the benefit of all Zanzibarians and Tanzanians.

CCM Secretary General Ambassador Dr Nchimbi said this today, Sunday 24th March 2024, when he met with the elders of Zanzibar at the CCM headquarters in Kisiwandui, the second day of his official visit from Pemba where he also held talks and consultations with the elders of Pemba on Saturday 23rd March 2024.

“Personally, when I hear someone talking about wanting to withdraw from the Government of National Unity, I don’t understand that person at all. Because the Government of National Unity was for the security of people’s lives, for the security of Zanzibar, for the security of Tanzanians. People’s lives are more important than anything else. We put forward the interests of the country, stability and our unity, not political parties.

“You remember when I was at the Ministry of Home Affairs, I used to go back and forth to Zanzibar by helicopter every day. We struggled to get rid of hostility and hatred. I know there are times when our colleagues get angry and speak passionately. We in CCM should not go there at all. We are the ruling party. We are guardians. Special guardians. Let us not abdicate our responsibility to care. The child is the one who cares. And in this I ask all the elders of Zanzibar and Tanzania to support me,” said Ambassador Dr The field.

In addition, CCM Secretary General Ambassador Dr Nchimbi has also emphasised CCM’s position to continue to uphold the unique responsibility of protecting the Glorious Revolution of Zanzibar and its foundations, which made all people equal before the law and eliminated all forms of discrimination including caste, race and status.

“The Glorious Revolution of Zanzibar did away with classes. It brings personality, we are all connected to our personality. We have a unique responsibility to ensure that we continue to protect the foundations of the revolution. We are prepared to continue to protect it. No shape or colour or status gives one person more rights than another. If you discriminate like that, you are a scumbag, a scumbag has no colour. That is the position of the CCM,” said Dr Nchimbi.

Welcoming them to the meeting, Secretary General Ambassador Dr Nchimbi told the elders of Zanzibar that they were witnesses to how the different phases of the CCM government, the Government of the United Republic of Tanzania and the Revolutionary Government of Zanzibar, had done great work for the development of people and things, and reminded them not to hesitate to continue to give advice or instructions to ensure that CCM continues to lead based on the principles of its creation and establishment, including using people and changing their living conditions.
